Match reports
Player of day Cameron Simms.
The first game of the 2010 season was always
going to be tough coming up against a strong North Shore team who have been
together for a number of years.
With only a few practices under their belts
and not having had a team run, our boys seemed to start the game in 1st
gear and were down by 19 points within the first ¼ hour. However they kept their
heads up, committed to rucks and mauls better and the scoring stopped. The
second half was similar, and unfortunately, the boys missed too many first up tackles
to make the match more competitive. However they can take a lot of
encouragement to the next game. They never gave up, a number of good tackles
were made and renewed commitment was rewarded with a try to Oli. Bailey and Matthew
played their first rugby game, and will be better for it. Improving fitness for
the next games will also see them look forward to hosting Helensville next
week.
Cheers
