Womens 2024

We’re excited to see senior women’s tackle rugby return to Northcote! We’re building on the momentum from our women’s 7s team, who played in the North Harbour and Glenfield Sevens tournaments in November 2023. Our coaching and management trio of Lyle Williams (Coach), Natasha Dallow (Player/Coach) and Anoushka Dallow (Manager) are all set for the 2024 season.

All players aged 17+ are welcome to register – whether you’re experienced, never played before, it’s been a while since you played, or you’re looking to step up from junior rip rugby. If you love the game, love hanging out with a good group of people and looking for that little something else, come and play rugby at the Cote this season.

    vs Weymouth 27th April

Women's rugby is back at Northcote!

Our Women's team have been training since February but because there is no 10s competition, they had to find a team to play and Weymouth answered the call. Both teams were full of inexperienced players at kick off but very quickly these players became an integral part of the game.

Weymouth scored quickly, which could have rattled our women but instead they stepped up and equalled the score with a try by ex Northcote Junior Brooke Ellison. Weymouth kept ahead by scoring again and then Northcote debutant Charlotte Sutton crossed the line through a speedy run down the wing. Halftime 10 - 14 to Weymouth.

After halftime, our women came out with confidence and a better understanding of the game in the second half. There were some big hit-ups, some almost breakthroughs, some try-saving tackles and pressure on Weymouth that saw Northcote go ahead on the scoreboard with another try from Charlotte and a conversion from Anna Goulding. In the dying minutes of the game, Weymouth got the ball and took it down the line to cross over for the winning try. Final score 17 - 19.

The game was played in great spirits, and everyone walked off the field with the biggest smile!

Players of the Day were Charlotte Sutton and Tash Dallow.

Thank you to all the supporters that turned out on Saturday, to Cat and Sammy for opening up the Club and feeding the teams, to the Club for supporting Women's rugby, to Weymouth for making the journey north and a big thank you to Tash, Noush, Lyle and the team for the commitment that got us onto the field, you should be all so proud of this milestone!
